This Halloween-themed appetizer has been a favorite at my parties for years. It’s festive, satisfying and full of healthy fats — and who doesn’t love guacamole? It’s simple to prepare, and you can use store-bought guacamole or follow the easy Whole30-friendly guacamole method below.
We host an annual adults’ Halloween party and a separate kids’ party, and I love creating themed food for both. These tostones and guacamole also pair wonderfully with my quick blender salsa.
Perfect for a Halloween gathering or a seasonal snack — who’s bringing this to their party? 🙋🏻♀️🎃

Halloween Whole30 Tostones and Guacamole
Autumn @wholefoodfor7
Pin Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 medium pumpkin (for carving) optional, for decoration
- 1 batch tostones see notes for Whole30 option
- 3 ripe medium avocados
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon onion powder
- pinch cumin
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1/2 – 1 bunch cilantro use more if you love cilantro
Instructions
-
If desired, carve the pumpkin for a decorative serving bowl (the “throwing up” pumpkin is a fun option shown in the photo).
-
Prepare tostones following the linked recipe in the notes, or use store-bought tostones or your preferred chips if not following Whole30.
-
To make the guacamole: halve and pit the avocados, then scoop the flesh into a medium bowl. Add garlic powder, onion powder, cumin and salt. Mash to your preferred texture. Finely chop cilantro (a small food processor speeds this up) and fold into the avocado. Chill briefly and serve with tostones.
