How to Make Apricot and Nut Ball Ornaments

This recipe is quick and simple. A good blender helps you make a batch in minutes. Follow these steps to prepare the apricot and nut balls and wrap them for hanging on the tree.

  1. Measure the ingredients into the blender: 1 cup (about 190 g) whole dried apricots, 1/2 cup dried cranberries, 3/4 cup cashews (or walnuts), 1/4 cup pumpkin seeds, and 3 tablespoons honey.
  2. Pulse the blender until the mixture breaks down and comes together into a sticky clump. If pieces stick to the lid or sides, pause and push them down with a spoon or shake the blender with the lid on, then continue pulsing.
  3. When the mixture forms a cohesive, tacky mass, transfer it to a mixing bowl.
  4. Pinch off portions and roll them into balls about 1 1/2 inches (roughly the size of a golf ball). The mixture should hold together; if it seems too dry, add a little more honey.
  5. Cut 8-inch pieces of cling wrap and then cut each piece in half to create squares.
  6. Place a ball in the center of a cling wrap square. Bring the four corners up and gather the wrap tightly above the ball.
  7. Secure the gathered wrap with string or ribbon, tying it tightly just above the ball. Leave a loop so you can hang the ornament on the tree.
  8. Optional: add a small decorative ribbon or bow for a festive touch.
  9. Store the wrapped ornaments in a cool place and consume within 4–6 days for best freshness.
