My hurricane cocktail is bright, fruity, and incredibly easy to make. This simple rum drink tastes like summer in a glass.

I love colorful, fruity summer cocktails like the Blue Lagoon and Sangria Margarita. Another favorite is this hurricane. It blends smooth white rum with tangy citrus and a touch of sweetness from grenadine. It’s perfect for unwinding at home or serving to friends at a casual gathering.
Ingredient Notes and Shopping Tips

- Rum: Use white rum so the other flavors remain bright. A common, reliable option is Bacardi; Plantation also works well.
- Grenadine: Choose a grenadine made with real pomegranate for better flavor. You can also make your own if you prefer.
- Orange juice: Freshly squeezed orange juice gives the best taste. Rolling the orange on the counter before cutting helps release more juice.
- Lime juice: Fresh lime is best—bottled lime juice can be bitter or harsh. Warm a lime in the microwave for 15–20 seconds to make juicing easier.
Krystle’s Tips
- Chill your glass ahead: A cold glass keeps the drink colder longer without diluting it quickly.
- No cocktail shaker? Use a mason jar with a tight lid to shake the ingredients.
- No jigger? 1 tablespoon equals 1/2 ounce, which makes measuring easy without special tools.
