Summer Bucket List Ideas for Toddlers, Kids, and Teens

School’s out — and summer is officially here! My kids are excited, and after a few mornings of sleeping in, they’re ready for all the fun that comes with long, sunny days. Together we created summer bucket lists packed with activities they love and memories we hope will last.

I hadn’t written a formal bucket list before, but each year I think about the things I enjoyed as a child and try to recreate some of those experiences for my own kids. I had a childhood full of simple, happy memories, and I want them to have the same—so we sat down and made lists of summer activities everyone can enjoy.

With four kids spaced about five to six years apart, our household includes teens, a tween, and a toddler. That range means we made multiple lists so each child has age-appropriate fun and the whole family still has shared activities to enjoy together.

Summertime Fun

Our district now starts school in mid-August and finishes before Memorial Day, which has given us a nice head start on summer. We’ve already checked several items off our lists, and more are planned before classes resume.

Here are a few things we’ve already done:

  1. Go swimming
  2. Visit the splash pad
  3. Enjoy a snow cone
  4. Make slime
  5. Visit grandma and grandpa
  6. Build a tower
  7. Eat breakfast for dinner
  8. Watch a sunset
  9. See a movie
  10. Make homemade pizza

We plan to complete as many items as we can before school starts again in August. Marking things off the list has made summer more intentional and more fun for everyone.
