These easy Italian Pinwheels are loaded with ham, salami, pepperoni, and cheese. They’re my favorite simple lunch and are perfect for packing to bring to the pool.

I love these pinwheels for summer. We packed them for the pool last week and everyone enjoyed them — they’re quick to assemble and travel well.
Packing a picnic lunch makes pool and park days more enjoyable. After lots of swimming or play, a satisfying lunch is essential.
Driving home with hungry kids often turns every fast-food stop into an unavoidable temptation. These Italian Pinwheels make it easy to feed hungry kids before the ride home.
How to make Italian Pinwheels
Pinwheels are essentially rolled wraps. Layer your ingredients on a flour tortilla, roll tightly, chill briefly to set, then slice into rounds. The result is a classic deli-style rollup filled with flavorful meats and cheese.

Ingredient Notes
- Mayonnaise – Use your favorite brand; Duke’s is a great option if you like a tangy mayo.
- Italian seasoning – Mixed into the mayo to make a simple seasoned spread.
- Flour tortillas – Use large (10-inch) tortillas for easy rolling and slicing.
- Provolone cheese – A personal favorite for these pinwheels; any mild deli cheese works well.
- Deli meats – Salami, ham, and pepperoni provide classic Italian flavors.
- Banana peppers – Add a little crunch and mild heat; adjust quantity to taste.

Directions
Step One – In a small bowl, mix 1/3 cup mayonnaise with 1/8 teaspoon Italian seasoning. Set the spread aside.

Step Two – Spread a thin layer of the seasoned mayonnaise over one large tortilla. Near the center lay 2 slices of provolone across the tortilla, then top with about 4 slices of salami, 3 slices of deli ham, 5 slices of pepperoni, and a few banana pepper slices.
Recipe Tip
I purchased a package of each meat and had leftovers. The amounts listed are what I used per wrap, but you can adjust to your preferences.

Step Three – Starting at the edge with the banana peppers, roll the tortilla tightly until sealed. Wrap each roll in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 10–20 minutes to firm up. Repeat with remaining tortillas.
Recipe Tip
Chilling the wrapped rolls helps them stay together when you slice them into pinwheels.

Step Four – Unwrap and slice each roll into 1-inch pinwheels. Arrange on a platter and serve.

Different ways to enjoy these pinwheels
- Use cream cheese – Swap mayo for whipped cream cheese mixed with Italian seasoning for a thicker, creamier spread.
- Add vegetables – Try lettuce, thin onion slices, or tomato for extra freshness. If adding tomato, pat slices dry to avoid soggy tortillas.
- Change up the meats – Use bacon, turkey, or any favorite deli meats to customize flavor and texture.

How to store leftover pinwheels
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3–5 days. If stacking, separate layers with plastic wrap or parchment to prevent sticking.

What to serve with pinwheels
These pinwheels pair well with classic picnic sides like broccoli salad, pasta salad, or potato salad — any chilled salad makes a great complement.
