During the colder months we drink a lot of warm beverages, and having a caffeine-free option is great. This grapefruit, honey, and mint infusion is bright, soothing, and comes together in minutes with just three ingredients plus water. It’s a refreshing, hot drink that feels indulgent but is simple to make at home.
Technically this isn’t a true tea, since there are no Camellia sinensis leaves involved; it’s better described as an herbal infusion or tisane. I first tried a version of this at a café in Toronto and loved it—so I developed an easy at-home version that delivers the same comforting flavor without the café price tag.

Benefits
This grapefruit honey mint infusion is naturally caffeine free, so it’s an excellent bedtime drink. It’s also a helpful choice during cold and flu season because the ingredients offer soothing, supportive qualities:
- Grapefruit provides vitamin C to support immune health.
- Honey coats and soothes a sore throat.
- Mint acts as a gentle decongestant and can help calm throat irritation.

How to make
Stovetop method (preferred)
Making the infusion on the stove extracts more flavor from the mint and yields a hotter drink. Steps:
- Combine water and mint in a small saucepan and bring to a gentle boil.
- Reduce the heat and simmer for about 3 minutes to infuse the water, then remove the mint.
- Stir in fresh grapefruit juice and honey to taste.
See the recipe card below for exact ingredient amounts and a quick summary of instructions.
Kettle method (shortcut)
If you don’t have a stove available, pour hot water from a kettle over the mint in your mug, let it steep briefly, then add grapefruit juice and honey. Note that the drink will be cooler once the grapefruit juice is added, and the mint flavor may be less pronounced than with the stovetop method, but this works when you need a quick cup.
