Yes, another green smoothie recipe — but this one is a Mocha Green Smoothie, a delicious blend of coffee, greens, fruit and chocolate. I warned you yesterday that I’m a little obsessed with green smoothies lately.
I’m taking part in the Simple Green Smoothies 30 Day Challenge to have a green smoothie every day. My plan has been to swap my breakfast for a smoothie most mornings, though on a few busy days I’ve made it as an afternoon snack instead.
I’ve been experimenting with a lot of combinations and haven’t found a green smoothie I dislike, but this mocha version is definitely one of my favorites. It’s creamy, energizing, and has just enough chocolate to feel indulgent while still being healthy.
On a different note, our new kitten is thriving — we’ve had her for a month now. It’s been delightful re-learning kitten habits after a long time without one.
Some kitten lessons so far: they sprint everywhere, dog bowls make tempting nap spots, the large water bowl is way more attractive than the kitten-sized one, they love exploring plants, they cuddle for hours once they settle in, and chickens outside the window are both scary and fascinating. The kitten has even tried a little taste of my green smoothie — she has good taste.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend filled with tasty green smoothies.
Mocha Green Smoothie

Ingredients
- 2 large handfuls of greens, I typically use a mix of spinach and kale
- ½ cup of almond milk, any flavor — I used unsweetened vanilla almond milk
- 1 cup of coffee, room temperature or colder
- 1 frozen banana, doesn’t have to be frozen but it makes the smoothie creamier
- 2 tablespoons of cocoa, could substitute a serving of chocolate-flavored protein powder
- Optional: Stevia or agave to sweeten a bit
Instructions
-
Place the greens, almond milk and coffee in a blender and blend until the greens are fully liquefied and no chunks remain.
-
Add the frozen banana and cocoa (and sweetener if using). Blend until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
-
Serve immediately and enjoy!
